At the height of her career, Gwen Stefani‘s catalog logged much time in the Billboard 200 and Hot 100’s upper rankings.  Yet, despite wielding hit after hit, her first two solo projects – ‘L.A.M.B.’ (Love Angel Music Baby) and ‘Sweet Escape’ – yielded no time on the album chart’s summit.

Well, that was then.

For, as reported here, Stefani’s time has finally come to lead the Billboard 200 as analysts predicted her newest set, ‘This Is What the Truth Feels Like’ (March 18), would feel its way to the top of the album charts.  ‘Truth,’ her third solo project (and first in a decade), was originally projected to shift units around the 68,000-73,000 mark, however, refreshed reports later indicated the diva would land closer to 80,000.

Now, with a full sales week behind her, the official news on how many units ‘Truth’ moved has finally been revealed.  Find out the sum below:

First Week Sales:  84,000 SPS

(Physical album sales – 76,000)

Chart Position:  #1

Via Billboard:

This Is What the Truth Feels Like was released on March 18 through Interscope Records and is Stefani’s first solo album since 2006’s The Sweet Escape, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 (243,000 sold in its first week). Prior to that, she reached No. 5 in 2005 with Love. Angel. Music. Baby., which was released in 2004 (bowing with 309,000 sold in its first week).

Congratulations! Gags, Fergi, Kesha, Katy and all those white girls with a tricky hip hop beat from the late 2000s owe their career to her. I haven’t even gotten to the pop rock chick’s that came and went.

I enjoyed the first half, but I had a long drive and it started to put me to sleep. I forgot the name, but it features a chick and that should be a single.

      • Metzo March 27, 2016

Did anyone buy or stream the album? Was it any good? The singles completely turned me off, so I didn’t really give it a chance. I just can’t deal with listening to “Make Me Like You” when this is supposed to be “her most personal album to date”.

sidenote: zayns album sounds like one long song

  10. LB March 27, 2016

Not feeling Zayn’s album, sounds like it is filled with Purpose rejects.

I like dRunk and wRoNg though.

    • Metzo March 27, 2016

Usually it takes 2 or more listens to really appreciate an album as a whole.
Upon first listening to Anti, i didnt get it but after a few listens, i think it’s her second best album after Rated R.

      • LB March 27, 2016

My philosophy is different, I have to like an album on the first listen. If I don’t, then it signals to me that not much effort was put into it.

Usually it is easy to tell if an album was trying to meet a deadline, you can hear the lazy production, patched up and contrived writing, lazy artwork and overall unappealing delivery. Zayn’s saving grace is he is a very good singer.

    • rosy3 March 27, 2016

Why you coming for gaga anyway the wOman is worth close to 40000000 million my mother loves gaga she can sing pop and jazz why you hating

    • JOHNVIDAL March 28, 2016

I think every TGJ reader and commenter can agree @rosey3 is basic af and a drama Queen. This post was quite and chile tell that thing came in! The Hive and Navy were co-existing in a post for once LMFAO!!

    • ???Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??? March 27, 2016

Chile, it said I was trying to drag Rih. When have I ever dragged Rih? Everyone on this blog KNOWS that I’m Navy and all for my black women succeeding. Happy Easter, hun!

      • HailBeysus March 27, 2016

  13. Tran anti no honey love time but it okay girl March 27, 2016

    Congrats to gwen

  14. Theman March 28, 2016

She is a beautiful & a great artist. These are good numbers for her. She hasn’t released an album in quite a while. Imagine if she had a top ten or top five hit. Both of her latest singles are great too. Congrats to another icon.

  15. Antmo March 28, 2016

Just think an album could debut at number 8 and still sell 300,000 copies back in the day nowadays your album can debut at number 2 and sell 5 copies as long as you have hella streams hmm just a thought

    • Cinnamon Girl March 28, 2016

A friend of mine who works in the industry and has for a long time, told me that the music industry has low standards now. Back in the day it was all about talent and how many records you sell. Now you have record companies buying you platinum plaques and counting streaming as sales. Selling 70-80,000 albums in one week would be considered a flop but now it’s considered slaying
